On the left we have the lyrics from Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines. On the right we rape survivors participating in Project Unbreakable, showing the various things that were said to them by their rapist.
From the Mouths of Rapist: The Lyrics to Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines
i think this is the most powerful photoset i’ve ever seen on tumblr.
Reblogging until you understand why this song is so vile
fuck him fuck him fuck him
Political correctness gone too far! It’s just a fucking song! They aren’t talking about raping people!
Have you guys ever thought like “wow, good girls don’t wanna sleep around but she’s definitely eye fucking me right now and touching my upper thigh. Hmm she definitely wants it.” Cause like as a girl who refuses to sleep around I know some men who could most definitely say “I know you want it” to me without raping me. Get over it. It’s a song, not a snuff film.
i don’t particularly like this song, but the blatant ignorance to the state of music is getting annoying. you activist-type people are acting as if this song is a plague, and the only song to have suggestive lyrics of this nature.. you’re not gaining any ground by just citing this song for its vile lyrics, you’re only blowing smoke. you’re simplifying a much more prevalent music issue, it’s not just a one song thing so don’t treat it like it is. and don’t treat it like this is something that has started recently as a product of society deteriorating, MUSIC WITH LYRICS SUGGESTING THEMES LIKE THIS HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG WHILE NOW.
and although i don’t like this song or the lyrics, it’s still a stretch to misconstrue them as robin thicke, pharell, and t.i. saying they want to rape women.
i do have a problem with how the models are used in the video, although the models could have also had some integrity to object if they didn’t agree with the song or look as if they were objects of a man’s affection only, which they aren’t.
in the end, money speaks and i’m sure they had no problem dumbing themselves down and stripping themselves down to make a nice check for being in a music video and showing off their bodies.
